W. Carolyn (Hoffer) Sargent 

Valparaiso, IN - Winifred Carolyn Sargent, 84, of Valparaiso since 1967, passed away Monday, March 3 2003 in the VNA Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso.

She was born on July 27,1918 in South Bend, to William Glen and Shirley Ann (Macintyer) Hoffer. Carolyn worked for 7 years University as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Man. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Valparaiso.

On December 25, 1940 in South Bend she married her first husband, George Edward Metzger who preceded March 10, 1969.

Carolyn remarried on January 6, 1979 in Valparaiso to Alex "Jim" Sargent who survives. Also surviving are; two sons, George E. (Charlene) Metzger of Lincoln, RI, and Richard W. (Linda) Valparaiso; three grandchildren, G. Edward Metzger, Amy Elizabeth McAbee, and Angela Leigh Metzger; and two great grandchildren, Anna McAbee and Addison McAbee.

Preceding in death are her parents and a daughter, Marci Dennig.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 6, 2003 from 12:30-1:30 P.M. at Moeller Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2003 at 1:30 P.M. at Moeller Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Weller officiating. Burial will follow at the Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso, in charge of arrangements

Memorial Contributions may be made to the VNA Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso.
