Helene Rita (Hiss)  O'Connell

Helene H. Hiss O'Connell, 66, of Medco Center, died at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in the nursing home.  She was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Lafayette, living in South Bend most of her life.

On Aug. 27, 1941, in South Bend, she married Robert J. O'Connell. He died Nov. 4, 1963.

She is survived by a daughter, Denise Conway of Mishawaka; two sons, Jack of South Bend and Patrick of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jane Toomey of Reseda, Calif.; and a brother, Bernard F. Hiss of South Bend.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Little Flower Catholic Church. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., where a scripture wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. today.

Mrs. O'Connell was a graduate of Saint Mary's College, past president of Parents Without Partners, and a member of American Business Women's Association. Mrs. O'Connell was retired from Saint Mary's Convent as personnel director.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer Research Foundation, in care of Memorial Hospital.
