Ruth Irene (Hazinski) Kopetski

MISHAWAKA — Ruth Irene Kopetski, 94 years, died peacefully on Nov. 3, 2012, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. She recently moved to Nashville from Mishawaka, IN. Ruth was born on Dec. 17, 1917, the daughter of Alexander and Lottie Grzesk Hazinski.
She was a loving older sister to and was preceded in death by Arthur A. (“Sarge”) Hazinski and Gertrude Hazinski Cierzniak. Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joseph J. Kopetski.
Ruth and Joe loved to fish, and Ruth was a great cook, known for outstanding soup and fresh fish recipes. Ruth was a devoted member of St. Bavo’s parish and volunteered in the gift shop of Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Mishawaka for 8 years. Ruth was also a proud member of the Polish Women’s Alliance. Ruth and her family are very grateful for the help provided by Carl Long, a remarkable volunteer of St. Bavo’s parish, the nurses at Inwood Assisted Living Facility and Alive Hospice, & the excellent care provided by Dr. Shaya Mokfi.
Ruth is survived by her niece, Mary Jo (Richard) Sheres of Alexandria, Virginia; and grandnephews, Dan Sheres and Ian (Tracy) Sheres; and by the family of her nephew Thomas A. Hazinski (d. 2006), Mary Fran Hazinski (Ames) Davis, of Nashville, TN, and grandnephew, Michael (Stephanie) Hazinski. Ruth is also survived by Joe’s nephew, John (Joyce) Nagy of Mishawaka, and nephew, Paul Czerniak.
A memorial Mass for Ruth will take place at 11 am on Friday, December 21st, in St. Bavo Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alive Hospice. Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka, is handling the local arrangements.
