Richard C. Gilliland

SOUTH BEND - Richard C. Gilliland, 73, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of South Bend, died Monday in Sarasota. Mr. Gilliland retired as the co-owner of Cascade Realty, Sarasota.

He was born April 14, 1918, in South Bend, and lived in Florida since 1953.

Surviving are two daughters, Ann C. Duncan and Gail G. Balkwell, both of Sarasota; six sons, Gregg D. of Woodbridge, Va., and Richard K., Douglas S., Scott D., Gary E. and Mark T., all of Sarasota; 11 grandchildren; and a brother, Fred Jr. of Bradenton, Fla.

He was a veteran of World War II and received the Silver Star.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Church of the PalmsPresbyterian, Sarasota. Toale Brothers Colonial Chapel, Sarasota, is in charge of arrangements.
