Agnes Annette (Erickson) Matthews

MATTHEWS Agnes Annette Matthews, beloved wife of the late Robert Lee Matthews and dear mother of Mary Beth Emrick of Fairfield, died July 23, 2000 at the age of 82. Born in South Bend, Indiana, to Carl and Agnes Erickson, she received her eduation in the South Bend public schools.

She married Robert in 1939, and shared his life as a career officer in the United States Air Force. She particularly enjoyed the extensive travel opportunities Robert's military service provided, and traveling remained a constant love until her sudden death. A routine destination was the Matthews' summer home in South Haven, Michigan.

Agnes was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fairfield, Ohio, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, American Legion, and Elks of South Haven, Michigan. She also enjoyed membership in the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #2 of South Bend, Indiana.

Mrs. Matthews donated her body to the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 2nd at 7:00 P.M. at the Webb Noonan Funeral Home, 240 Ross Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45013. Flowers for the memorial may be sent to Webb Noonan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in memory of Mrs. Matthews may be directed to Hospice of Cincinnati, 4310 Cooper Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45242
