George Edison Dean
1918 - 1969
Funeral for George Edison Dean, 51, a pioneer in the use of audio visuals in education in this area, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Sandy Springs Chapel. Dr. Chilton Thorington will officiate, with burial in Arlington Cemetery. Dean, associated with the Colonial Film and Equipment Co. since 1961, died Thursday. A native of South Bend, Ind., Dean had spent much of his life in Atlanta.
He was a veteran of World War II and was manager of the Ideal Picture Co. in Atlanta before joining the Colonial Film firm. He was a member of the Northwest Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Elks.
Surviving are the widow, the former Grace Moore, a son, Charles Allen Dean of Atlanta; sisters, Mrs. Victor Jordan Jr. of Newburgh, Ind., and Mrs. R. D. Judd of Georgetown, Ky., brothers, William S. Dean of South Bend, Ind., Henry L. Dean of Joliet, Ill., and John Edwin Dean of New York City.
