SOUTH BEND Betty B. Blech, 78, of Regency Place, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Thursday evening, Oct. 23, at Regency. She was born on Dec. 9, 1918, in Walton, Ind., to William and Martle (Roach) Blech. She had lived in the South Bend area since coming from Bremen, Ind., at the age of 10.
She is survived by her sister, Gene Martin of South Bend; her stepmother, Thelma Blech of South Bend; two daughters, Janet Scott of Bremen and Sandra Blech of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and by a stepsister and a brother, Roberta Dare of Mishawaka, Ind., and Ray Smith of California.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Zeiler.
Betty was a member of Saint Paul's Memorial United Methodist Church, and belonged to the Uniroyal Retirees. She worked for many years before retiring in 1975 from Uniroyal.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N.William Street, and burial will take place in the Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call one hour prior to services
