Julia Elsie (Baumgartner) Wiltrout

June 23, 1916 - March 13, 1999

Julia E. Wiltrout, 82, of Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of 905 Adams Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, in St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.

She was born on June 23, 1916, in South Bend, to Thomas and Julia (Hornyak) Baumgartner, and was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Wiltrout retired in 1982 from the St. Joseph County Clerks Office.

On August 7, 1937, in South Bend, as Julia Baumgartner, she married Frank T. Wiltrout, who preceded her in death on September 12, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cristine Gover in December 1998; and by three grandchildren, Deana Ford, Tyler Burns and Jason Burns.

She is survived by three daughters, Fran (David) DeVliegher of South Bend, Annette (James) Papandrea of St. Joseph, Mich., and Cindy Burns of South Bend; three sons, John (Sally) Wiltrout of South Bend, Tom (Margaret) Wiltrout of Indianapolis, Ind., and Gregory (Kathleen) Wiltrout of Buffalo, N.Y.; twelve grandchildren, Ann Stites, Christopher Papandrea, Michael Wiltrout, Timothy Wiltrout, Matthew Wiltrout, Philip Wiltrout, Jacqueline Wiltrout, Alexa Wiltrout, Lisa DeVliegher, Craig DeVliegher, Troy Burns, and Erica Burns; and by one great granddaughter, Molly Stites.

Mrs. Wiltrout was a member of the South Bend Civic and Democratic Club, William Penn Club, Second Wind Club and St. Jude Catholic Church. She also spent many years as an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road, where a Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Services will be at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Jude Catholic Church. Cremation will take place with entombment in Highland Cemetery.
