Henry Spencer “Bud” Badet Jr.

Harry Badet, 70, of Tucson, Ariz., former president of South Bend Toy Manufacturing Co., who died Sunday in Northwest Hospital, Tucson, were at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Adair Funeral Home Avalon Chapel, Tucson. Cremation will take place. Mr. Badet was the grandson of the founder of South Bend Toy.

He was born March 7, 1918, in South Bend and moved to Arizona 12 years ago from South Bend. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne of Tucson; three sons, Jon and Brian, both of Tucson, and Spencer of Gambier, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

He was past president of the Hump Pilot Association and formed the ATC Hump Pilots Limited. Mr. Badet was a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel.

He received the China War Memorial Medal in recognition of his role in the China-Burma-India Theater of operations during World War II

Henry (Harry) Spencer Badet Jr., of 6950 Orange Grove Circle, has announced his candidacy for the state Legislature from District 2, subject to the Republican primary. Badet, who has never been a candidate for public office before, is a businessman who first came to Tucson 6 years ago from South Bend, Indiana, where he was a Toy Manufacturer. He has a wife and three children. A veteran of World War II, has was a Captain and Pilot of a transport, flying the Hump in the China, Burma, and India areas. Badet is a member of the board of trustees of the First Congregational Church, a member of the Elks, and last year was president of the Kiwanis Club of the Desert. He is also a member of the CBI Veterans organization.
He owns a medical building in Tucson.
