Clarence N. Wetzel

SOUTH BEND - Clarence N. Wetzel, 69, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Walnut Grove, died at 3 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Hospital, Tampa, Fla., after an illness. Mr. Wetzel was employed by AM General Corp. He was born Nov. 22, 1923, in Michigan City, going to Florida in 1985 from South Bend.

His wife, Mary M. Maichen, survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Michele M. Wetzel-Coglin of Carmel, Ind.; two sons, Steven F. of South Bend and Andrew J. of Titusville, Fla.; his mother, Martha B. Wetzel of South Bend; four grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Pauszek of South Bend; and a brother, Richard L. of Granger. A son preceded him in death.

Mr. Wetzel was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society
