William F. Wonisch

William Wonisch, 80, of Brookfield Street, passed away at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct.15, in his residence. Mr. Wonisch retired in 1988 from Allied Signal and also had been employed at Studebaker for 20 years. He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the D.F.V. German Club. He was born on Nov.4, 1923, in South Bend, Ind., to Ernest and Theresa (Wilfing) Wonisch.
On April 12, 1947, in South Bend, he married the former Elsie Johs, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Kathy Wonisch of South Bend, Kristine (David) Frick of Canton, Ohio, and Julie Ann Wonisch of Mishawaka, Ind.; a son, William J.(Julie) Wonisch of Mishawaka; three grandchildren, Erin Frick, Alex Wonisch and Hannah Wonisch; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Wonsich and Jerry Wonsich.
William was preceded in death by a sister, Cecelia Bronner;and by two brothers, Frank Wonsich and Ernest Wonisch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Zahoran Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
