In Memory
Lorraine (Aunt Lou) C. Schreiber
November 22, 1923 ~ September 05, 2025
Lorraine was born in Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Stella; her brother, Irvin; her sister, Delores; and her nephew, Mike.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews; Jack, Shai, Arlette, Mark, Gary, Phil and DiAnn.
Lorraine would say she lived so long because she ate a banana a day and had peanut M&M’s.
She always had her hair dyed black and had an updo at Vogue Beauty College. They knew her as the updo lady.
She never used soap on her face, just Ponds Face Cream. She had very few lines on her face.
She took her first and last shower at 97. Hated it. She only took baths.
Lorraine worked at Bendix from age 20-55 years old, then retired. She then took aerobics and dance classes. She also had lunch with her lady friends weekly.
She loved to play board games, especially Aggravation. She did crossword puzzles and got them all.
She learned how to drive in 1970. She had to go to driving school. None of us could teach her. We took her car away at age 93.
She always welcomed visitors. She wanted to hear all about them.
Lorraine had a sense of humor, loved to kid around, and would give a big smile when you would. She never complained and was always in good spirits.
She fell and fractured her elbow. She didn’t want to contact ADT because they were in Texas and she didn’t want to wake them up. The only other time she had surgery when she was a teenager and had her appendix out. She was in Rehab during Covid and got her shots and never had a problem and never got it.
We finally hired some sweet ladies to help her. Terri, Sue and Jackie. Thank You ladies for all your love.
We decided to put her in a private respite home. Thank You so much for all your love for her Obua and Paige Rodgers. They have three girls. The youngest was born at home and she held her when she was two hours old. They had an instant bond.
Aunt Lou started to have hallucinations. She knew they were. Her last one was about chickens. She was telling Paige about it and Paige sat on the bed and she said, “oh, you just sat on one.” She laughed and clucked like a chicken. Did it sound like one? Humor till the end. So this is it!!
