Margie E. Horne Dec. 23, 1923 - April 23, 2015 ELKHART - Margie E. Horne, 91 years old, of Elkhart, formerly of Eagle Lake, Edwardsburg, passed to her rest April 23, 2015, at Riverside Village, Elkhart, after an illness. She was born Dec. 23, 1923, near Spencer, IN, the daughter of Ernest and Esther (Smith) Johnson.

She moved to South Bend and graduated from Central High School before coming to the Edwardsburg area in 1969.

Margie had worked at Miles Laboratory as a Lab Tech. She then became involved with the restaurant business and was the former owner of the Aladdin Inn Restaurant of Osceola, the former owner of the Cupboard Restaurant in Edwardsburg, formerly managed the Dining Room of Four Lakes Country Club in Edwards-burg, and lastly she was the Catering Service at the former Ramada Inn of Elkhart. Margie was an excellent manager; she cooked very good meals and made many friends from her customers. She was dearly loved by her family and her church.

Margie was married June 10, 1944, at the Military Camp Forrest, Manchester, TN, to William Ashley Horne, and he passed March 25, 1993. Surviving are their children, Lori Campbell of Elkhart, Dennis Horne of Social Circle, GA, Michael (Rosemary) Horne of Frederick, MD, and Rick (Jenny) Horne of Edwardsburg. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Chad (Natalie) Horne, Heather (Marc) Conner, Cameron (Kate) Horne, Brandon (Ambur) Horne, Eric Fisette, Erin (Tony) Seger, Chase Horne, Benjamin Campbell, Matthew (Jessica) Campbell and Cody (Bridgette) Campbell. There are nineteen great-grandchildren. Family who have passed are her parents, her loving husband, William, their son, Bradley Horne, a son-in-law, Terry Campbell, and all of her siblings.

Cremation will take place. There will be a Memorial Service of Remembrance on May 16, 2015, at her church, Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ in Osceola, with the former pastor, Sam Boys, officiating. The time of the service and a follow-up obituary will be published in newspapers around May 13th as a reminder. Cremation inurnment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial donations may be directed to Margie's church, Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ, 10955 Edison Road, Osceola, IN 46561. Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwards-burg, MI 49112.
