Margaret Ellen Hartman, 80, of Mt Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2005, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.
Funeral services for Margaret will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at 4 pm from Clark Funeral Chapel with Dr Stephen Shugert officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 22, 2005 from 1-3 and 5-7 pm and on Sunday, January 23, 2005 from 2 pm until time of service at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Mt. Pleasant Public Library. Envelopes will be available at the chapel.
Margaret was born July 10, 1924, in Ashland, Ohio, the daughter of Edgar and Myra (Cook) French.
She served in the United States Navy in Washington DC. during World War II.
Margaret married Horace Hartman in South Bend, Indiana. She moved from South Bend to Mt. Pleasant in 1966. Margaret and her husband started A-1 Janitor Service in 1968 which provided residential and commercial cleaning services for Central Michigan.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Margaret enjoyed reading, bridge, sailing, needle point and being a swimming instructor.
Margaret is survived by her children, Arthur (Robin) Bahr of Mt Pleasant, Andrew Bahr (Fiancee’ Kay Souder) of Mt Pleasant, Mary (Tom) Suman of Lake, Paul “Al” (Coni) Bahr of Caro and Martha (Pat) Bowers of Mt Pleasant; step-daughter, Kathryn (Phillip) Lombard of Ithaca; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Esther Criddle of Carmel, California.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Horace in 1978; stepson, David Hartman; grandson, Matthew Bahr; sisters, Carol Wolfe and Virginia Wagar and her parents.
