Raymond H. “Ray” Cukrowicz

Raymond H. Cukrowicz, 88, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 10:05 a.m., Friday, March 30, 2012 in Southfield Village. Raymond was born on January 12, 1924 in South Bend to Harry and Helen (Latowski) Cukrowicz, and was a lifelong resident. He retired from the Bendix Corporation in 1984 after 42 years as a Tool & Die Maker. Survivors include five nephews, Tom (Margaret) Deranek, Ralph (Sue) Deranek, Brian (Marsha) Cukrowicz, Noel (Katharine) Cukrowicz, and Paul (Rabecca) Crow; many great-nieces and great- nephews; and many great great-nieces and great great- nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alice Deranek; two brothers, Ben and Ernie Cukrowicz; and one niece, Gerri Danilewicz.

Raymond was a graduate of South Bend Central High School and was a member of the U.A.W. Local #9. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran who received the American Theater Asiatic Pacific Theater W/2 Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation W/2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. He was a past member of the V.F.W. Golden Hill Post #8748 and the American Legion Pulaski Post #357
