Evelyn M. (Tuttle) Bariger

March 1, 1927 – June 15, 2004

SOUTH BEND — Evelyn Mae Bariger, 77, of Calvert Street in South Bend, Ind., passed away at 1:08 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, in Hospice House. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 18, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., with Pastor Sam Oliver officiating. Friends may call from noon until time of services.

Evelyn was born in Knox, Ind., on March 1, 1927, to Aaron and Goldie (Smaltz), who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister and three brothers. Evelyn was a graduate of South Bend Central High School. She retired from Uniroyal in 1981 following over 30 years of service. Evelyn married Lloyd E.Hook in South Bend on July 26, 1946, who became very ill and passed away on Sept.19, 1968, of kidney disease. She later married John T. Bariger on Dec.31, 1974, in South Bend, and he passed away on Nov.4, 2000. Mrs. Bariger is survived by a son, David Hook of South Bend; a daughter, Marilyn (John) Henderson of South Bend; two stepdaughters, Gloria Woods of Hohenwald, Tenn., and Jonna Rae Hayes of Fishers, Ind.; and a stepson, Rex Bariger of Spencer, Ind.

She is also survived by a sister, Pat Pleake of South Bend; two brothers, Elmer and Gene Tuttle, both of South Bend; six grandchildren, Sherry Lynn (Judd) Daigneau, Angie Lynn Platz, Heather Marie Scott, Terry Lee Ellsworth Jr., Stacey Woods and Travis Woods; and by six great-grandchildren.
