Leonard Schmanski Sr.

Leonard Schmanski Sr., 57, of 1234 N. Elmer St., died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after a lengthy illness.He was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Chicago, and had lived in the South Bend area most of his life.
On Aug. 7, 1948, in South Bend, he married Rosemond Tuttle, who survives. He also is survived by a daughter, Janice Nied of Mishawaka; three sons, Leonard Jr. of South Bend, Larry of Harbor City, Calif., and Terry of Indianapolis; two grandchildren; a sister, Helen Pecze of South Bend; and two brothers, Edward of South Bend and Leo of Mishawaka.
There will be no visitation and cremation will take place at Riverview Crematory. Graveside services later at St. Joseph Cemetery. Kantewski and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Schmanski was a World War II veteran, serving with the air corps. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Holy Cross Catholic Church, of which he was a member.
