Leo Schmanski

Leo Schmanski, 73, of Dragoon Trail, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, . Oct. 28, in Fountanview Place, Mishawaka. Mr. Schmanski was born on Sept. 12, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., as the son of the late Edward and Lucille (Hoppa) Schmanski. Mr. Schmanski was employed by Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor, Ind., for 20 years before retiring in 1994. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka.
On June 17, 1956, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, South Bend, Ind., he married the former Janet Facemire. Mr. Schmanski is survived by his wife, Janet of 43 years; a daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Trethewey of Mishawaka; three sons, Mark (Mary) Schmanski of Cassopolis, Mich., Christopher Schmanski of Mishawaka and Edward Schmanski of Norcross, Ga.; and by three grandchildren, Jeffrey and Daniel Schmanski, and Emily Trethewey.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 29, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Robert Yast officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osceola, Ind
