SOUTH BEND - Delbert J. Kelver, 92, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2021, in his home. He was born March 14, 1929 in South Bend to Homer C. and Mildred A. (Dumont) Kelver. Delbert retired in 1991 from the Penn Harris Madison School Corporation, where he was employed as a School Bus Mechanic for 21 years. In the 1950's he married Julia Fritsch, she preceded him in death. In 1957 he married Barbara Lane who preceded him in death in 1977. He then married Lois Ewing in 1981. She preceded him in death in 1985. Delbert is survived by three daughters, Judy Boston, Janet Babcock and Rebecca Hoebeke; three grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, including Magical Stickler, Rex Stickler, Skyler Lynn; and two sisters, Maribel (George) Early of South Bend, Indiana and Carolyn McLane. Delbert was preceded in death by his brother, Dan Kelver; and sister, Rozann Kwanewski. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2021 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Delbert was a 1945 graduate of South Bend Central High School. He was a member and past president of the Clay-Granger Lions Club. He was the founder of River Valley Antique Power Association in Three Oaks Michigan in 1983 and was still an active member.
