Eugene Joseph Zielinski
Feb. 10, 1924 - July 8, 1996
Eugene Joseph Zielinski, 72, residing on N. Ironwood Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Monday, July 8, at his home after an illness. Mr. Zielinski retired in 1985, after 32 years with Vic Trippel in Mishawaka as a plumber and steam fitter. Eugene was born on Feb. 10, 1924, in South Bend to the late Joseph and Alta (Odiorne) Zielinski. He had lived in South Bend all of his life.
On April 27, 1946, in South Bend, he married Lois Jean Keefer who survives. Also surviving are two daughters; Sandra Jean Nelson of South Bend, Carol Ann Hite of Brethren, Mich., one grandson; David Eugene Nelson who lives at home in South Bend with his parents; and one brother; James William Zielinski of South Bend. Two sisters, Rosemarie and Patricia preceded their brother in death.
Mr. Zielinski was a member of the Little Flower Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360 in Mishawaka, and an Army Veteran of World War II where he received the valor of the purple heart award. The family would like memorial contributions to be given to Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc.
Visitation hours for Eugene will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10 at the Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend
