Melva M Loughridge Eichorst
- Melva M. Eichorst , 79, residing on South St. Joseph Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away following a brief illness at 4:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, in Healthwin Hospital.
She was born Jan. 21, 1924, in South Bend, as the daughter of Percy A. and Myrtle (Wiverly) Loughridge, and had remained a lifelong resident of this area.
On June 21, 1942, in South Bend, she married Vernon D. "Ike" Eichorst , who preceded her in death on May 23, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Eichorst on March 24, 1972; a sister, Lela Earl; and by a brother, Jack Loughridge.
Mrs. Eichorst is survived by a son, James D. Eichorst of Mishawaka, Ind.; and three grandchildren, whom she adored very much, Jennifer McLean of Mishawaka, Scott Eichorst of Mishawaka and Amber Stamper of Osceola, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Georgia O'Connor of North Liberty, Ind.; and three brothers-in-law, Donald Eichorst of Bremen, Ind., Clarence Eichorst of South Bend and Richard Eichorst of Osceola.
Mrs. Eichorst was a former employee of the Bungalow Pie Company, and served as hostess at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, for many years.
