Douglas I. Kuball, 83, formerly of Benton Harbor & Baroda, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at his home in Watervliet.

A Service Celebrating his Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Marlo Fritzke officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens with Military Rites conducted by Coloma American Legion Post #362, VFW Post #1137 of Benton Harbor, VFW Post #6803 of Watervliet, & Stevensville American Legion Post #568. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to South Haven Area Hospice.
Mr. Kuball was born December 11, 1923 in South Bend to Emil & Carrie (Anderson) Kuball.

He graduated from high school in South Bend and served his tool & die apprenticeship with Studebaker. On June 24, 1950, he married the former Mary Ellen Pletcher in South Bend. Douglas served his country in the US Army during WWII. After returning from the service, he owned & operated TRICO Tool & Die in Mishawaka for many years. In 1964, Douglas opened the River Pointe Motor Lodge in Benton Harbor, which he owned & operated until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the South Bend Masonic Lodge & Scottish Rites. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, golfing, camping, house boating on the Mississippi, traveling, and the time he spent working his grape vineyard in Baroda.

Mr. Kuball is survived by his daughter Karen (Glen) Mills of Orange, TX; his son Kerry (Connie) Kuball of Avondale, AZ; his five grandchildren-Adriane & Derek Mills, Kristopher, Kyle, & Casey Kuball; and his special friend & companion Linda Thumm of Watervliet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary on August 26, 1993, and his brother Tom Kuball.
