Elsie J. Hess Wooley

SOUTH BEND - Elsie J. Wooley, 90, of South Bend, went to be with her heavenly father on Thursday, January 24th, at her granddaughter's home. Elsie was born in South Bend on January 8, 1923, to the late Charles and Tekla (Hokanson) Hess.

In 1942, she married William L. Wooley in South Bend. William preceded her in death on June 24, 1976. Elsie was an amazing mother to all. She loved being able to help and serve her family. She was an avid card player and hated to lose.

Elsie is survived by her children, Janet Ann Griman, Sharon Kay Hileman and Bill Lee Wooley, all of South Bend, and Gale Ann (David) Potter of Auburndale, Florida. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Grace Marie Gerghty and Betty Mae Cassler, both of South Bend; and a brother, George Robert (Sue) Hess of Orange Co., California. Elsie was a grandmother of 10, a great grandmother of 21, and a great-great-grandmother of 10.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Charles, Henry and Carl.

Friends may visit with the family today, January 29th, from 11:00 am until service time in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. A service celebrating Elsie's life will begin at 1:00 pm in the funeral chapel.
