Patricia Ann Flynn (Coffield)

Patricia Ann Flynn Coffield

Mrs. Patricia Flynn Coffield passed away on July 2, 2016. Pat was born on August 17, 1923 in South Bend, Ind., the only child of Joseph H. and Mary B. Flynn.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Ballis Coffield.

She is survived by her five children, Scott F. (Jackie), Mary C. Brosnan (Robert), Nancy J., Elizabeth F. and Steven J. (Som) Coffield; her five grandchildren, Robert (Kate), Peter and William Brosnan and Kristin C. Edwards (Justin) and Ryan F. Coffield.

She attended St. Mary of the Woods College, Indiana and graduated from Depauw University with a degree in Art, where she was also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. A devout Catholic and lifelong Notre Dame fan, Pat was an avid bridge player and had been an active member of the Junior League, the Women's Club, The Virginia Museum Council, Willow Oaks Country Club and St. Bridget's Catholic Church. She was a pre-eminent hostess and cook, who loved to entertain in her home, but her greatest joy in life was raising her six children, whom she loved, nurtured and supported her entire life. She encouraged independence, honesty and humor in all of them but failed to develop a concert pianist among them. The epitome of grace, she was a beautiful mother, grandmother and friend who will be forever loved and missed.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, Va. 23230. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 6006 Three Chopt Rd., Richmond, Va. 23226. Interment to follow at Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 4600 Cox Rd., Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
