Erwin Kenneth "Ed" Wright Sr.
November 20, 1922 - September 4, 2012
Erwin K. Wright, Sr., 89 of Osceola, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Elkhart General Hospital. Erwin was born on November 20, 1922 in Grovertown, the youngest of Jacob H. and Elva Wright's thirteen children. He was raised in Hamlet and married Ilene M. Thompson on December 21, 1940. He later served in the US Marine Corps during WWII. Ed retired from Nickel Molding Co. and was formerly employed at Franger Gas. He attended Faith Community Church and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #360.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Ilene Wright; his children, Erwin Kenneth (Betty)Wright, Jr., Judith A. Porter and Audrey L. (Jeff) Rohrer, all of Elkhart; Donna M. Marks of South Bend and Barbara J. (Dave) Soule of Osceola; nineteen grandchildren and numerous great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria J. Vitali, three grandchildren and twelve siblings.
Memorial Service 11:00AM Monday September 10, 2012 at Faith Community Church, 30046 CR16, Elkhart. Graveside Committal Service with Military Honors 2:00PM Monday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 10776 McKinley Highway.
