Mary Olive (Snyder) Beam

Mary Olive Beam, 78, of 227 North Maple Street, Argos, Ind., passed away at 2:20 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, Ind., where she had been a patient since Monday.
She had been in failing health for two years. Mrs. Beam was born on June 5, 1922, in Fish Lake, Ind., to the late Edward and Velma Elliott Snyder. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Kathryn, Betty June and Doris; and by two brothers, Alfred and Ronald. She had lived in the Argos community since 1947, wintering in the Ellenton, Fla., area.
She was a homemaker and, from 1970 to 1987, she worked at the Argos Medical Center as a receptionist/transcriptionist. Prior to 1963 she had worked at the State Exchange Bank, Argos. Mrs. Beam was a member of the Argos United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post #68, Argos.
On Feb. 22, 1942, in Tippecanoe, Ind., she married Melvin "Bud" Beam, who survives at home. She is also survived by a son, Michael Beam, and wife, Teresa; two grandsons, Ryan Beam, age 12, and Spencer Beam, age 5, all of Lakeland, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, in the Argos United Methodist Church, 540 N. Michigan Road, Argos, with the Rev. Robin Smith officiating. A private family burial will take place later. Memorials may be made to the Argos United Methodist Church, Argos. The Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, is in charge of arrangements
