Richard John Morrison

Richard John Morrison of Miesville, Minn., a retired industrial engineer, Studebaker Corporation, South Bend, Ind., purchasing agent, Continental Can (Federal Paper Board Company), Elkhart, Ind., and Real Estate Agent, Union, Mich., died Saturday, Nov.6, in the Hi-Park Skilled Care Facility in Red Wing, Minn. He was 81 years old.
Mr.Morrison was born Dec. 14, 1922, in South Bend, Ind., the son of Hugh C. and May (Hagey) Morrison. He graduated from Central High School in South Bend and Ray School of Photography, Chicago, Ill. He also attended Notre Dame University.
He married Patricia J.“Mary” Kopetcki on Aug.23, 1958, in United Methodist Church of Cassopolis, Mich.
He was a lifelong member of the American Legion. He served in the “All American” 82nd Airborne as a glider pilot and flew in all major battles, including the invasion of Normandy. He was an avid bass fisherman, golfer, and a Notre Dame football fan.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Holly Givens of Hastings; two grandchildren, Cassie of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Harmon Givens of Hastings; niece, Jeanne Barnes of Las Cruces, N.M.; and a nephew, Gary Morrison of Carlsbad, N.M.
His parents, brother, Earl, and nephew, Michael of Las Cruces, preceded him in death.
He was cremated and the services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov.13, at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Chapel, Granger, Ind., with Reverend Ervin Mize officiating. The Zahoran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to go to Alzheimer Research, 4550 W.77th Street, Suite 200, Minneapolis, MN 55435, with indication that the memorials are “To be Used for Research.
