Lucile F. Nusshart Smith

Lucile F. (Nusshart) Smith, 93, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away at 10:25 AM Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at her home.

Lucile was born November 13, 1921 in South Bend to the late George and Mary Nusshart and has been a lifelong resident of this area, graduating from South Bend Central High School.

On May 29, 1941 in Napoleon, Ohio she was united in marriage to Merrill Smith. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage until his passing on September 11, 2007. Lucile worked as an Administrative Secretary for Watcon Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1986. She previously attended River Park United Methodist Church, South Bend.

Lucile is survived by her daughter, a son; four grandchildren; along with five great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother.

Along with her parents, George and Mary Nusshart, and her husband, Merrill Smith, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Marie L. Daniels and Dorothy Holmes.

Funeral services for Lucile will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Palmer Funeral Home – River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN. Rev. David Wettergren of Community Baptist Church will officiate. Private graveside services will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be offered to the American Cancer Society of North Central Indiana, 130 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
