SOUTH BEND - Robert L. Lehman, 67, of 1515 Marigold Way, died of natural causes Sunday morning in his home. Mr. Lehman retired in November 1988 as the president and owner of Indiana Engraving Co. He was born Feb. 9, 1922, in South Bend and was lifelong area resident.

He is survived by several cousins.

Mr. Lehman had been a charter member of the Area Plan Commission which was formed in 1964 when the former City Plan Commission, of which he was a member, merged with St. Joseph County planning commission. He served as president of the organization in 1980. In 1981 he was appointed as Area Plan Commission's representative on the Area Board of Zoning Appeals. Lehman was a life member of the American Red Cross, having started as a volunteer in 1951.

In 1954 was was fund campaign chairman for the St. Joseph County Chapter of the American Red Cross. "He was quite dedicated in Red Cross. He is the only person who has the distinction of being chairman of the board twice," said B.K. Bell, executive director.

Mr. Lehman was chairman between 1972-74 and 1976-78. He also was a past Indiana Division Council chairman of the Red Cross and was a member of the national convention resolution committee in 1980. He also was past president of the South Bend Press Club from 1978-79 and was past president of the Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph Valley.

He was a 1946 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, St. Joseph Lodge 45 F & AM. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Entombment will be at Highland Mausoleum. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
