Helen L. (Kern) Layman

Helen L. Layman, 78, residing on Fairfield Drive. Niles. Mich., died at 10:10 a.m. on Monday. Sept. 20, in Healthwin Hospital, South Bend. IN_ Mrs. Layman was born on April 20, 1921, in West Palm Beach, Fla., to the late Ferrel and Donizetti (Castle) Kern, and had been a lifelong resident of the Michiana community.

On Sept. 30, 1950, in Portland, IN , she married Charles W. Layman. who passed away on Jan. 11, 1990.

She retired in 1970 from the Bendix Corporation where she served as a secretary in the products division Mrs. Layman served her country in the U S Army during World War II. and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant

Mrs. Layman is survived by two daughters. Linda (Floyd) Ebersole of New Carlisle. IN . and Nancy (Jim) Bankston of Niles. a son Mike Layman of Reynoldsburg. Ohio. and a stepson. Richard Augustine of California: a step-daughter. Barbara (Chuck) Barone of Seal Beach, Calif., and by 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
