May Louise (Wunder) Thornton

February 22, 1936 ~ February 23, 2025

May Louise Thornton, a beacon of gentle kindness, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at the age of 89 in Mishawaka, IN. Born on February 22, 1936, in Sturgis, MI, to the late Lawrence and Sylvia (Grove) Wunder, Louise's life was a testament to the power of love and the simple joys of family life.

Louise's journey began as a cherished daughter, and she carried that cherished feeling into every relationship she nurtured throughout her life. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Janice (Bernie) Drinsky and Barbara (Dale) Whitfield, and a doting grandmother to her grandchildren, Thomas Swan, Nicholas Swan, Heather (Vahid) Sadrzadeh, and Joel Drinsky. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren, Aidan, Damien, Layla, Imogen, Paxton, Ari, Laci, and Liam, as well as to her grandchild, Shaun Whitfield. Each of them was touched by her loving spirit and will carry forward her legacy of kindness.  She loved her animals; her cats, Barry, Sally, and Andy; along with her dog Bella.

Louise's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family. As a homemaker, she created a warm and welcoming home where laughter was abundant, and everyone felt loved. Her dry sense of humor was a source of joy and amusement for all who knew her, and her love for cats and dogs reflected her expansive heart.

A woman of simple pleasures, Louise found contentment in the pages of a good book, losing herself in stories and adventures. Her love for reading was a passion she shared with her family, instilling in them the value of imagination and the importance of lifelong learning.

Louise's character was the epitome of loving, gentle, and kind. She approached life with a soft touch and a warm smile, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her presence was a comforting embrace, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

As we bid farewell to May Louise Thornton, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart generously shared. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as her love shaped the world around her. Louise's story does not end with her passing but lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, a timeless reminder of the beauty of a life well-lived.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday March 3, 2025, at Palmer Funeral Homes, Bubb Chapel, 3910 N Main Street, Mishawaka where friends may visit with the family beginning at 2:00pm. Burial services will be 1:00 pm on Tuesday March 4, 2025, at Brighton Cemetery.
