Carol A. (White) Bogol

Carol A. Bogol, 78, of Mishawaka, IN, died on April 13, 2015 in her home surrounded by her loving family, following an extended illness. 

She was born on September 1, 1936 in South Bend, IN, and spent her entire life in the South Bend/Mishawaka area.
She was the daughter of the late Marie (Kolanda) and Clement White; and sister to Thomas (wife Anne) White of Mishawaka, IN.

Carol and Robert were married on November 30, 1957 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Bend, and have celebrated 57 years together. Survivors include her husband Robert I. Bogol; she was also a devoted mother to Josephine Bogol (deceased), Melanie (Andrew) Smith, Clarice (Ryan) Trzaskowski, Lawrence Bogol (deceased), Robert T. (Nancy) Bogol, James (Mary) Bogol, and Stephen (Karen) Bogol, all of South Bend area.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Meghan (Todd) Tomczak, Alison (Adam) Voreis, Adam (Stephanie) Smith, Meredith Smith, Andrew J. Smith, Emily, Sara, Michael and Alex Bogol, Dominic, Abigail, Charles and Jonathon Trzaskowski, Lydia and Elise Bogol; and three great grandchildren, Lanie and Tanner Tomczak, and Mila Josephine Voreis.

Those who know Carol know her passion for education and teaching: she graduated from Central High School (1954), Holy Cross Central School of Nursing (1957), Saint Francis College, Joliet, IL (Bachelor of Science, 1978), and the University of Notre Dame (Masters Science of Administration, 1987). She taught at Ivy Tech for 20 years in the nursing program.

Carol retired in 2001 from St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and Holy Cross Shared Services as a nurse, after working 41 years for the Sisters of the Holy Cross.

She was a faithful lifelong member and volunteer at Holy Cross Church, where she served on the school and church board for 15 years. She is a five year volunteer for S.H.I.P. In August of 1992, she received from Saint Joseph/Holy Cross Alumnae Association, the Sister John Francis Alumnae Award from the class of 1957- for Nurse of the Year.

Carol was a warm and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 920 Wilber Street, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Robert L. Epping, C.S.C. officiating. A private burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
