Henry McHeal Turner Jr., 38, of 1209 E. Sorin St., died at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hines (Ill.) V.A. Hospital after an illness of one month. He was an employee of the United States Post Office. He was born August 5, 1934, in Marion, Ark., and came to South Bend from there in 1946.

He married Carolyn Smith on June 22, 1963, in South Bend. She survives, along with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Turner Sr. of South Bend, a son, Henry IlI, at home, four daughters, Darlene, Gail, Lana a and Michaeliene, all at home. Also surviving nine brothers, Joe of Franklin, Ga., Albert of Detroit, Charles of Michigan City, Samuel with the U.S. Navy in Long Beach, Calif., Cleo of Elkhart, and Johnny, Eugene, James and Roy, all of South Bend, and a sister, Mrs. Eva Herron of South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Alford's Mortuary. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Macedonia Missionary-Baptist Church, with Rev. R. Johnson, pastor, and Elder W. O. Coates, pastor of the Immanuel Church of Deliverance, officiating. Burial will be in South Bend City Cemetery.
