SOUTH BEND - Joan A. Zwierzynski, 76, of South Bend, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013, in Cardinal Nursing Home, South Bend.

She was born on December 21, 1936, in South Bend, to the late Robert and Clara (Plencner) Switalski. On June 9, 1956, as Joan A. Switalski, she married Carl J. Zwierzynski, who survives. Joan is also survived by her daughter, Tamela Zwierzynski; her son, Joseph (Catherine) Zwierzynski, both of South Bend; three grandchildren, Jacob (Brittanie), Adam, and Caleb; two great-granddaughters, Avary Rose and Autumn Breeze Zwierzynski; her sister, Harriet Luczkowski; and her brother, Richard (Lynne) Switalski, both of South Bend.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Switalski.

Mrs. Zwierzysnki worked as a Personnel Manager for Sears for eight years and for Target for 13 years, before retiring in 1990. She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a former member of the Firefighters Auxiliary.
