Ruth Lucille Hall died from natural causes on March 9, 2020 in Elkhart Indiana at the age of 83. She was born April 20, 1936 in Topeka Kansas, eventually moving to South Bend Indiana. Ruth graduated from Central Senior High School, South Bend, Indiana, in 1954. She married Virgil Leroy Hall September 2, 1956 and moved to Elkhart Indiana where she started her new life with Virgil. Virgil and Ruth would remain together for the rest of their lives, a relationship lasting 63 years.

Ruth began her career in health care by working at the Elkhart medical practice of Dr. William Paff. She studied diligently, earning her Licensed Practical Nurse certificate in 1977 and ultimately her Associates Degree in Nursing from Ivy Technological North Central in 1989. Ruth continued caring for people as a nurse for the rest of her career at Elkhart General Hospital.

Ruth collected dolls and loved to fill scrap books with family memories. In addition, she was politically active and took great pride in having met President Barrack Obama personally.

Preceding her in death are her parents James and Laura Cooper, her brother Kenneth, sister Ann and her very missed friend, a German shepherd name “Spud”. She is survived by her son Terry and her daughter Joanna. Ruth is also a Great Grandmother through her grandchild Samantha.

Ruth loved and was loved by the congregation of Adamsville Road Church of God in Elkhart where she was a faithful member for many years. The family also wishes to extend a thank you to Ruth’s neighbors who befriended and assisted her.

Those wishing to share memories and pay their final respects to Ruth may attend a visitation from 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, March 14, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder funeral home in Nappanee. The funeral ceremony will be held immediately after the visitation at 2 PM. Ruth will be laid to rest at Union Center Cemetery. Those wishing to express condolences may send flowers to the Funeral Home or make donations on Ruth’s behalf to the Alzheimer's Association
