Joseph Thomas Cichos

Joseph Thomas Cichos, 87 years old, peacefully passed away on February 12, 2023 at the Beloved Home Care Facility in Mishawaka.

Joe was born on February 5, 1936 in South Bend, to the late Thaddeus and Mary (Koperski) Cichos. On November 8, 1958, Joe married the love of his life for nearly 43 years, Julia Ann Gersey in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka, she preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Cynthia Cichos.

Left to cherish the memory of Joe are his daughters, Patricia (Stanley) McKelvey, and Suzanne (Jeffrey) Bailey; grandchildren, Amanda (Ryan) Walorski, Stanley (Mariah) McKelvey, Kristy Cichos; great-grandchildren, Brittney Walorksi, Mackenzie Walorski, Christopher McKelvey, Camden McKelvey, Kendra Collpitts, Mason Barber; brothers, Thaddeus & Danny; and sisters, Margie & Carol.

Joe proudly served his nation in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion, and worked for Nipsco for 39 years. Joe was a man of integrity but also a very social person who would talk to anyone. He was a faithful parishioner of Christ the King Parish in South Bend. Joe loved to travel, enjoyed his cars, dancing, cooking and most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Connie and Jerry and their fellow staff at Beloved Home Care for their comforting and spiritual care of Joe and his family.

Friends and family may start visiting with the family at 11:00am-1:30pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. The funeral service will begin at 1:30pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date.
