John T. Brown Sr

John T. Brown Sr., 84, passed away Tuesday, July 13,2021 at his home surrounded by family.  He was born September 23,1936 in Barbourville, Kentucky to the late Henry W. and Hallie (McCreary) Brown Sr.

John retired in 1998 after working 42 years as a Maintenance Superintendent & Machinery Broker for Steel Warehouse Co. Inc..  After retiring, he worked 14 years as a self-employed Machinery Broker. 

On September 10,1963 in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was United in Marriage to Patricia Kipp, who survives.

He was a member of the MR Falcons Nest #4 and a Legion of Honor Member.  John was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bristol.  He was a Notre Dame & Chicago Bears football fan.  To John there were no such things as strangers, only friends he hadn’t met yet.

Along with his wife, Patricia, John is survived by four sons, Randy (Olivia) Duerksen of Cordova, TN, Ron (Pam) Duerksen, Timothy Brown both of Elkhart, IN and John T. (Rhonda) Brown Jr. of Granger, IN; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and his sister Sue Reed of Mishawaka.  He is preceded in death by his son, Daniel Duerksen; his sister, Bernice Adams and his brother, Henry Brown Jr.

Friends may visit with the family from 4:00PM – 8:00PM Friday, July 16,2021 at Palmer Funeral Home-Welsheimer North Chapel, 17033 Cleveland Rd., South Bend IN 46635.  Funeral Services for John will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, July 17,2021 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20943 County Road 6, Bristol, IN 46507 with Pastor Katherine Kolodziejczyk presiding.  There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20943 County Road 6, Bristol, IN  46507 or to American Cancer Society – Indianapolis, PO Box 681405, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
