Eileen Marie Fodge, age 94 of South Bend, passed away on May 27, 2026, with her family by her side. Eileen was born on January 2, 1932, in South Bend to the late William and Laura (Morrison) Major. On November 10, 1950, she married Gene Fodge in South Bend. Together, they shared nearly 60 years of marriage and built a life centered around family.
Eileen is survived by her children, Laurie (Phil) Szucs and Stacy (Joe) Massow; her grandchildren, Michael (Ellie) Szucs, Scott (Kaley) Szucs, Jimmy (Ashley) Szucs, Michelle (Chris) Mehall, Rachael (Patrick) Radtke, Kirk Ullery, Colin (Jessie) Ullery, Koryn (Trevor) Creager, and Jaden Ragab; along with her great-grandchildren, Ethan Radtke, Ryan Radtke, Liam Ullery, Hunter Ullery, Eileen Ullery, Maddox Creager, Riley Ullery, Eli Szucs, Cole Szucs, Owen Mehall, and Everett Mehall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene “Pops” Fodge, and her children, Curtis Fodge and Scharm Young.
Eileen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved camping, pool parties, trips to the beach, and gathering for holidays, especially Christmas. Baseball was also a big part of her life. Gene played professional baseball for the Chicago Cubs organization, and Eileen rarely missed the chance to attend her grandchildren’s baseball and softball games to cheer them on.
In keeping with Eileen’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Her family asks that you remember her in your own special way. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with her care.
