SHIRLEY M. (FRANK) SALO

On July 12, 2018, Shirley Mae Salo, 85, passed from this life to her eternal rest after a courageous battle with cancer.

Shirley was born on Oct. 26, 1932 in Lydick, Ind., to the late Frederick C. and Creda Gale (Keen) Frank, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou (Joe) Runnells.

She is survived by her husband, Norman John Salo; her son, Lee (Carol) Hite, of Brethren; and by her sister, Creda Gayle Lantz, of South Bend, Ind. 

Shirley was a graduate of the former Central High School in South Bend, Ind. In 1973, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Eugene Ferran, who preceded her in death. From this union she is survived by his son Greg (Shannon) Ferran and his three children.

In 2010, she was united in marriage to Norman John Salo and is survived by his four children; Lois Salo and Shelia Salo, both of Arizona; son Eric Salo, of New Carlisle, Ind. and his children; and, Sheryl (George) Korovesis, of Elkhart, Ind. 

She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved by her family, extended family, many friends and will be greatly missed. Shirley has lived in Brethren for over 40 years.

Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend their special thanks and deep appreciation to the Ludington Chapter Hospice of Michigan. Charitable donations may be made to Hospice in memory of Shirley. 

The Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Facility of Manistee is in charge of the arrangements.
