In Memory

Robin Keith Allin
December 11, 1934 ~ December 16, 2025 (age 91)
Robin "Bunky" Keith Allin, 'the keeper of the world', peacefully passed away on December 16, 2025, leaving us all to now fend for ourselves.
He entered into life on December 11, 1934, in Madison, Wisconsin where he almost immediately gained the nickname "Bunky" from the hospital nurses who thought he had an unusually large nose, similar to the baby Bunky character in the comic strip of the same name, and the nickname forever stuck. It is worth noting that he did grow into his nose and later appeared to be of average size.
Bunky passed at the age of 91 and was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years in 2005, Shirley Ann (Cronkhite) Allin (married October 6, 1956), and is leaving behind three children ...
• Kerry Allin of Osceola, IN (grandchildren Jerek & Madeline)
• Scott Allin and wife Josey of Mishawaka (grandchildren Hunter Allin & Dustin Radabaugh)
• Brenda Hickman and husband Kit of Bryan, TX (grandchildren Dakota Hickman (Erinn), Sierra Hickman, & Nancy (Brian) Commender)
• And seven great grandchildren.
Bunky was one of six children and is survived by two of his siblings, Sharon (Leroy) Baker of Ft. Meyers, FL, and Daniel Allin of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents James "Fred" and Irene Allin; siblings Richard Allin, Elaine Forrer and James Allin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In 1952 Bunky graduated from Central High School in South Bend, IN. He joined the US Army in 1955 and was discharged in 1958, stationed mainly at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. He later worked at Bendix for over forty-five years.
Throughout his life, he was always there to help his family, neighbors and friends sort out problems, assist in fixing anything that was broken, or lending a tool to someone in need. It was believed by some that he may have even purchased tools that he himself did not immediately have need for, but which were good to have on hand to loan out to others. Because that is just who he was. Giving to a fault.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, In. Burial will be at a later date in New Carlisle Cemetery.
