SOUTH BEND - Barbara Ann Ogden passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday Jan. 14, 2018. Barb was born in South Bend Sept. 3, 1936 the oldest daughter of Mary Alice (Landis) and Hubert H. Ogden. Barb was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack; and daughter Pam Sparks. Barb is survived by her son, Walton E. (Raedelle) Sparks Jr. of Holland, MI; her sisters, Lynn (Michael) Carrington of South Bend and Pam (Dr. Fred) Katz of Middleton, WI; granddaughters Stephanie and Ellen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and her beloved cat Ruby.

Growing up she spent her summers playing tennis at Leeper Park which culminated in her becoming the South Bend City Women's Champ at age 15. She graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1954. Barb was a hard worker and enjoyed a varied and interesting business career managing apartment complexes in Columbus, OH, Greenwood IN, and Madison, WI. One of her most interesting and fun jobs was being the house mother at the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority in Madison, WI for 5 years. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She enjoyed watching N. D. sports and was a big fan of professional tennis, especially Roger Federer. Barb will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

As per her wishes there will be no services at this time. Barb volunteered at Center for Hospice Care and contributions in her name could be made to them at Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Pl., Mishawaka, IN, 46545.
