SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth J. “Betty” “Busia” Urban, 87, of South Bend, Indiana passed away in her home at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2017, with her loving family by her side. Betty was born on January 23, 1930 in South Bend to Floyd and Stella (Bielejewski) Flowers and was a lifelong resident. She retired on February 14, 1992 from United Export Corporation where she was employed as a Secretary for 16 years. On September 17, 1955 she married Vernon Dull. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1957. On May 14, 1960, she married Robert Urban, who preceded her in death on January 30, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Flowers and Eugene Flowers; her sister-in-law, Frances Frair; and her brother-in-law, Henry Urban, Jr. Betty is survived by her daughter, Beverly Urban-Niedbalski of South Bend, Indiana; two sons, Bruce (Susie) Urban and Barry (Lynn) Urban both of South Bend, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Bradley Urban, Elizabeth (Dan) Bowman, Robert (Danielle) Niedbalski, Jessica Urban, Kristina Urban, Anna Urban, Jeremy (Beth) Medina, and Yevetta (Manny) Ortiz; seven great-grandchildren, Giovanni Ortiz, Ariana Ortiz, Jaidyn Medina, Analyse Medina, Evan Bowman, Payton Niedbalski, and Parker “PJ” Niedbalski; her sisters-in-law, Harriett and Pat Flowers both of South Bend, Indiana; her brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Friar of Big Rapids, Michigan; and her nieces and nephews, Stephen (Gail) Flowers of South Bend, Indiana, Janet (Mike) Pfiel of South Bend, Indiana, Gail (Rocky) Pope of Katy, Texas, Richard (Christina) Flowers of South Bend, Indiana, Dean Flowers of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Keith (Debbie) Flowers of South Bend, Indiana; and by many other out of town nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2017 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Betty was a 1948 graduate of Central High School, where she was a member of the reunion committee since she graduated. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish, where she coached volleyball. She was also a member of the St. John the Baptist Retirees and Altar Rosary Society; St. Stanislaus Harvest House; St. Casimir Senior Club; St. Hedwig Golden Cluster; and the South Bend Alumi Assocition. Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed baking and tending to her flowers. She was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. In lieu flowers, contributions may be directed to St. John the Baptist Church. Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
