James Allen Warrell

James Allen Warrell, 88 years old, passed away at 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Southfield Village, South Bend.  Mr. Warrell was born on July 26, 1933 in Mishawaka to the late Fred J. and Violet (Wardlow) Warrell.  He has remained a lifelong resident.  On October 11, 1956 in Jeffersonville, IN, James and Shirley Hagood were united in marriage. His wife of 60 years preceded him in death on October 30, 2016.  He was also preceded in death by two sisters, June King and Mary Jane Thornson; and two brothers, Robert and Marvin Warrell. 

Mr. Warrell is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian (Cheri) Warrell of Osceola and Keith (Cathie) Warrell of South Bend; five grandchildren, Neil (Jessica) Warrell, Trevor Warrell, Makenzi Warrell, Alexa (Mungai) Mungai, and Tyler Henry; sister, Sharon Gise of Florida; and brother, Ralph Warrell of South Bend.  Mr. Warrell is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him very much.

Mr. Warrell retired in 1999 after 20 years as a sales manager for Nationwide Papers.  He was a member of Granger Community Church.  He loved cars, especially Studebakers.  Mr. Warrell played the trumpet and saxophone for 40 years with the band, Downbeats.  He enjoyed Thursday morning breakfasts with the pack. 

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend where friends may visit with the family from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  A private burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of James A. Warrell may be donated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN  38105 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, IL  60707.  Family would like to thank the caregivers at Southfield Village for taking such good care of "Pops."
