Waneta M. (Shadel) Morrical

November 2, 1931 ~ March 17, 2022 (age 90)

Waneta M. Morrical, 90, residing in South Bend, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the Raclin House, Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka.

She was born November 2, 1931 in South Bend, the daughter of Worthey Aaron & Flossie (Petty) Shadel, and has been a lifelong resident, having lived on the south side most of her life.  She graduated from Central High School in 1951.  On May 17, 1952 at the Indiana Avenue Christian Church, South Bend, she was united in marriage to Elvin D. Morrical. Together, they enjoyed 57 years of marriage until his passing on May 28, 2009.

She is survived by her daughter Diane Lung of Mishawaka, her two sons, John Morrical of Mishawaka, and Aaron (Christine) Morrical of South Bend, along with two grandchildren, Robert Morrical and Stephanie Jancovich, two step-grandchildren, Christina (Charles) Correl, and Patricia (Russ) Reece.  Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Rachel and McKenzie Jancovich, and Jordyn Molnar, two step-great grandchildren, Charles Correl Jr., and Elana Correl, along with her sister, Anna Brownbridge of Osceola.

Along with her husband Elvin, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Jackie Morrical, son-in-law David Lung, and sisters Lottie Shadel and Vonda Wood.

Before she was married, Waneta worked at Woolworth’s and Singer Manufacturing Company. After raising her family, she did baby sitting and later worked at Christian Center Church in the mailroom, retiring in 1995.  She was a member of Christ Chapel in South Bend, and enjoyed camping and reading.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend.  Rev. Stephen Sumrall will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at the funeral home.
