Jacob John Michels, 70, of 500 E.Fifth St., Birdsboro, Pa., died of natural causes on Thursday, Aug. 14, in St.Joseph Medical Center, Reading, Pa. He was born on May 17, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Katherine Decker and Peter Michels Sr.

He had been the president of the former Ashlow Wire Guides, LLC, Reading, before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the United States Navy and a veteran of the Korean Conflict.He was a member of Twin Valley Bible Chapel, Narvon, Pa., and the Verlin M. Showalter Lodge #1172 F.&A.M., Bartonville, Ill.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Sue (Bucher);two sons, Jeffrey A. Michels of Davenport, Iowa, and Michael D.Michels of Charlotte, Tenn.;two daughters, Tamara J. (Michels) Darrah of Gahann, Ohio, and Jacquelyn S.(Michels) Kohlmeier of Macungie, Pa.;two brothers, Nick Michels of South Bend, Ind., and Peter Michels Jr.of Peoria, Ariz.;a sister, Elizabeth (Michels) Parker of Champagne, Ill.;and by six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m.Saturday, Aug.16, in the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc., 144 North Spruce Street, Birdsboro, with Rev.David L.Gilbert officiating. Burial will be at Birdsboro Cemetery, Union Twp., Berks County,
