John H. Jena

GREENFIELD - John H. Jena, 68, Greenfield, Ind., formerly of South Bend, Ind., died on Friday, Oct. 12, in Hancock Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 18, 1933, in South Bend, to Theodore J. and Clara 1 W. (Christman) Jena. He graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1951 and from the University of Notre Dame in 1955 with a B.A. in marketing.
He married Constance A. Akers on Aug. 15, 1981.
Mr. Jena was a photographer for Bagby Studios in South Bend and a supervisor and quality controller for Caterpillar Logistics in Greenfield since 1995. He was a past Master of St. Joseph's F.& A.M. #45 in South Bend, past Grand Master and past Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Indiana F.& A.M., a 33rd Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, a Shriner, a past executive officer for the Indiana Order of DeMolay, a master gardener, was in charge of the State speaker's bureau for the Ronald McDonald House, was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Indiana Masonic Home, and was an active member of Brown's Chapel Wesleyan Church, Greenfield.
He is survived by his wife, Constance A. (Akers) Jena of Greenfield; two sons, Thomas A. Jena of Indianapolis, Ind., and Douglas T. Jena of Huntington, Ind.; a stepson, Christopher E. Smith of Clermont; a daughter, Luanne C. Hagee of Camby; a stepdaughter, Kelly J. Johnson of Greenfield; a brother, Max W. Jena of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Nancy L. Van Arsdol of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Carol A. Bock of Elmore, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jena was preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers, Thomas F. Jena and George E. Jena.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today, Oct. 14, in Erlewein Mortuary, Greenfield, and one hour prior to services on Monday in Brown's Chapel, Greenfield. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, in Brown's Chapel Wesleyan Church in Greenfield. Dr. James A. Dunn will be officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Brown's Chapel Wesleyan Church..
