Robert J. Horvaath, 78, of Carmel, joined his soulmate Helen in heaven on August 19, 2011. He was born in South Bend, IN to Joseph and Ethel Horvath on May 23, 1933.

He was a graduate of South Bend Central High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bob married Helen Relias on March 3, 1957 and spent the next 52 years together. Bob was a Carmel City Councilman from 1977-1980. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and the American Legion. His early career centered around the automotive industry and he transitioned to a manufacturer's representative. He bowled many seasons at Nora Bowl. He was a DIE HARD Cubs fan. He was an avid spectator of many sports at all levels.

Bob is survived by daughters, Diane (David) Nesbitt and Deborah (Dan) Halpin; and 3 grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, August 27, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a service to begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Leppert Mortuary, Smith Carmel Chapel .
