Mildred Virginia Jenkins was born on August 18, 1931 in Escatawpa, Mississippi to the late Arthur and Olympia Thompson. Mildred entered into eternal peace on August 26, 2017 at her home in Citrus Heights, CA. Mildred was a 1950 graduate of Central Senior High School, South Bend, Indiana and attended college at St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana. She was a beloved housewife and loving mother of four sons. She was a member of St. Mel Catholic Church and longtime member of St. Mel Legion of Mary. She was also a long time member of the Society of Military Widows and Gold Star Wives. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 38 years, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph A. Jenkins and son, Keith R. Jenkins; brothers, Prentis Thompson, Otis Thompson and Clinton Thompson; sisters Authurine Wagoner and Frances Thompson-Malone. Mildred and Joseph were married in Jackson County Mississippi on August 14, 1951. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, son Joseph A. Jenkins Jr. and his wife Karolyn Jenkins, son, Michael D. Jenkins and son, Christopher C. Jenkins; grandchildren, Eric Jenkins, Kelvin Jenkins and his wife Gina Jenkins, Aiyisha Lawson and her husband Jeremy Lawson, Joelle Jenkins and Christian Jenkins, Jimmy Ray Bradley and Kiarra Lee. Cherished by her great granddaughter Jackie Renee Jenkins; nieces Eleria Smith, Pauline (Phillip) Durden, LaMarge (Oswald) Miller and Frances (Clarence) Bridges; nephew Melvin Malone; devoted caregivers/friends Virginia Bracamonte and Brenda Stokes Eubanks. She will be sincerely missed by a host of other relatives and friends. The family of Mildred Jenkins wishes to express our sincere appreciation for all acts of kindness, expressions of sympathy, prayers, support and love graciously extended to us by family and friends. Rosary will be held on September 5, 7:00pm at St. Mel Catholic Church, 4745 Pennsylvania Avenue, Fair Oaks and Memorial Service will be held on September 6, 10:00am at St. Mel Catholic Church.
