Janet (Verhoestra) Snider-Fisette

Janet L. Snider-Fisette, 61, residing on Kern Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 8 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, in her home. Janet served as superintendent of customer service with the U.S. Postal Service in Dowagiac, Mich. She was born on Jan. 23, 1941, in South Bend, to Louis and Isabelle (Scanlon) Verhoestra, and had lived in this area all of her life.
On Aug. 2, 1997, in Mishawaka, Ind., as Janet Snider, she married Howard E. Fisette, who survives. Along with her husband, Howard of Mishawaka, survivors include her daughter, Keleigh (Marlen) Snider-Wilkins of Niles, Mich.; her son, Timothy Snider of Dearborn, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Cody, Zacharias, Kirstyn, Kelsey, Bailey, Mackenzie, Gabriella, Nathan and Evan; and by her brother, Kenneth (Rita) Verhoestra of Orlando, Fla.
Janet graduated from Central High School, South Bend, in 1959. She loved her family and her pets. She enjoyed shopping, country dancing, boating, and water gardening. She was a member of the Studebaker Drivers' Club.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. David Gisi and Pastor Jeff Whittaker will officiate. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
