Laurence "Bud" R. Mesaros, 67, of Battle Creek, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at Battle Creek Health System. He was born March 9, 1930, in South Bend, Ind., to Stephen F. and Alice J. (Sergeant) Mesaros.

He graduated from high school in South Bend, Ind. He had lived in Battle Creek since the 1970s. He served as a private E-1 in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from April 23, 1951, to April 18, 1953. He worked as a foreman at the Community Action Agency in Battle Creek and owned a restaurant in Buchanan.

He married Suzanne L. Jones on Sept. 20, 1990, in Louisville, Ky. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Richard L. Mesaros of Crawfordsville, Ind.; stepsons, Robert Carmichael of Battle Creek and D. Nello Carmichael of Grand Rapids; daughter, Lisa Mesaros of Edwardsburg; five grandchildren; brothers, Robert Mesaros and Jack Mesaros both of South Bend; and sisters, Joyce Pitman of Mishawaka, Ind., and Dorothy Walters of South Bend.

He was preceded in death by a brother, George Mesaros
